Lake Skadar: a day by the water

Trade the coast for lake scenery. A walk, birdwatching or a boat trip: choose how you want to explore.

A lake trip works well as a day without a long list of compulsory stops. Decide first whether you would rather enjoy the water from shore or head out with a local operator. That choice shapes your main stop and how much time to leave for walking.

What to see

Lake Skadar is known for wetland scenery and birdlife, including the Dalmatian pelican. Boat trips, kayaking and birdwatching are ways to explore the national park. Virpazar can be the starting point for your own plan.

Getting there by car

From Budva, set Virpazar as a separate navigation stop. Confirm the meeting point and parking with your chosen operator before leaving. Do not try to combine every scenic road around the lake in one day; one area and an unhurried walk are enough for a first visit.

A suggested plan

  1. Start in Virpazar and confirm your plan locally.

  2. Choose a boat trip or a shore walk.

  3. Finish with an unhurried lunch.
